ABOUT THE COLLEGE

The Goa College of Home Science (GCHS), established in July 1988, is the only College of Home Science in the State of Goa offering a three-year Degree Course - B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science.

The Degree Course facilitates the holistic education of students in the field of Home Science under the Specialization Streams of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, Textiles and Clothing, and Human Development so as to equip them with skills needed to pursue higher education in an area relevant to their future occupations.

The College is funded by the State Government and is affiliated to Goa University.

The GCHS is situated in its own premises at Campal, Panaji. The Institute has well-qualified faculty, Smart Classrooms, Laboratories, a Seminar Room, Canteen, Library and other areas with the required facilities for Sports and extra-curricular activities.

The teaching - learning process takes place in an interactive environment involving the use of innovative techniques to enhance this process. Participatory techniques are stressed upon with a focus on building up student morale, stimulating independent thinking and fostering creativity. Project work and seminar presentations constitute an integral part of this system.
