Activities Under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav

In order to understand behaviour change in mothers visiting health centres Students of Goa College of Home Science visited Urban Health Centre Panaji on the 30th of September 2021.

This visit was coordinated by Assistant Professor Ms. Mitali Bhate. In their interaction with mothers and ANM from health centre, students gathered information on problems faced by nurses to inculcate breast feeding behaviour among mothers. Different topics discussed were breastfeeding, weaning a baby, importance of immunization, hygiene practices followed by mothers and family planning.
Ms. Varsha Naik, Asst. Prof. of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, coordinated this event.

Awareness is created by health centres in aganwadis on breastfeeding, balanced diet, how to start weaning a baby, different foods to be used while weaning a baby, sanitation and hygiene, etc.

Students observed the immunization procedure and also observed interaction between mothers and nurse.
